Liqueur de noix 2012
My green walnut liqueur experiment finished and bottled! Of course I gave it to taste to all my friends who passed by. Here is a short collection of their judgements: could be sweeter! is this meant to be a medicine or just for fun? nice for Tiramisu with a touch of nut a bit rough, has it any healing effect? perfect with vanilla ice cream next year you should make more of those little bottles […]

Green smoothie fever
I’ve recently been hooked on the green smoothie fever, all thanks to Victoria Boutenko and her two books “Green for life” and “Green Smoothie”. Here is my own little introduction to the power juice and detox wonder: Green smoothies typically contain at least 1 cup of water, leafy green vegetables and fruit, and often small amounts of secret power foods. The green smoothie can be served as breakfast, lunch or dinner because it is so […]
a spontaneous experiment: liqueur de noix
Today I cut some branches of my walnut tree. I felt bad for the bucketful of green walnuts that should go to waste, so I began a small search for a simple way to make use of the semi-ripe nuts. David Lebovitz in his blog “Sweet life in Paris” made the convincing suggestion: Liqueur de noix! In 2 months I will know whether this spontaneous experiment was a success.
watermelon slushie -cinemascoped
Ok, the colours are not a 100% natural, but doesn’t it look sooo cool? It reminds me of the luxury of a hotel breakfast on the warm side of the globe, drinks by the pool and big fat hot summer…. Take 1/4 watermelon, cut in small cubes a handful of ice cubes 1tbs freshly squeezed lemon juice sugar to taste depending on the ripeness of the melon ( I prefer it without sugar; it’s […]
powerdrink n°3
Believe me, this drink has been a real challenge to photograph! Due to the mixture of the violet acai berry powder, the dark orange quince sauce and the green portulaca leaves it quickly adopted an uninviting brownish greyish colour (just like a facial mud pack!) I took two nice glasses we inherited from Grandpa – those with the silver rims, poured in the drink and decorated it with pieces of beautiful apple skin. Now a […]
Lipa (lime) from Lipniky
We didn’t wait for the first signs of a flu to sip a cup of linden blossom tea, this summer’s harvest. It is a gift from friends from Lipniky, a tiny slovakian village, which precisely got its name from an enormous old linden tree. And talking about linden blossoms: did you ever smell a linden tree in full blossom? It’s intense, dizzying, luring, evoking jasmine and tuberose….. Lucky the one who can sleep the siesta […]
#11 Bellini
Recently strolling through the delikatessen of Karstadt, a Dresden department store, we found the perfect tool to prepare an “instant Bellini”: a small bottle containing pureed white peaches for longdrinks. The season of whites peaches is short, so it seemed to be worth a try. (In case it wouldn’t have met my high expectations – there are always dessert creations calling for an extra ingredient.) To mix the original Bellini, invented more than half a […]
