Drinks / Lunch / Salads

It’s always a feast when Mr. Herzog from Landmarke delivers the first young and tender vegetables of the season. They are so fresh and tiny, you literally can eat them with root, stems and leaves. Here’s how I prepared my first spring beetroots: green smoothie with fresh beet leaves the leaves of 4 baby beets a handful of lemon balm leaves a few mint leaves 1 apple 1 banana 1 teaspoon almond butter 1 cup […]

The best way to flush out toxins is simple: lots and lots of water. I start my day off drinking water from a bottle right in the bathroom and continue throughout the day finishing at least one big jug more. 1.    Recommended amount: at least 2 litres daily. 2.     Have a glass of water with your cup of coffee/ expresso or black tea because caffeine dehydrates the body. 3.    Add natural flavours […]

Lunch / Soups

After the opulent Christmas cooking I’m craving “clean” and simple food again. You know what I mean: a few ingredients like vegetable, fruit and  herbs can make such a quick and delicious (and healthy) meal. I put “healthy” in parentheses because in the past, the h-word was the most reliable motivation killer for my children to like my cooking. Healthy equaled “muesli” and uncool; in consequence: not desirable at all. Once I learned to […]

Drinks

Believe me, this drink has been a real challenge to photograph! Due to the mixture of the violet acai berry powder, the dark orange quince sauce and the green portulaca leaves it  quickly adopted an uninviting brownish greyish colour (just like a facial mud pack!) I took two  nice glasses we inherited from Grandpa  – those with the silver rims, poured in the drink and decorated it with pieces of beautiful apple skin. Now a […]

We didn’t wait for the first signs of a flu to  sip a cup of linden blossom tea, this summer’s harvest. It is a gift from  friends from Lipniky, a tiny slovakian village, which precisely got its name from an enormous old linden tree. And talking about linden blossoms: did you ever smell a linden tree in full blossom? It’s  intense, dizzying, luring, evoking jasmine and tuberose….. Lucky the one who can sleep the siesta […]
