5 questions to Sylvia

It was at the end of 2005 that Sylvia Richter-Krancher decided to transform her passion into a business. Her passion, that is cooking with fresh and seasonal products and presenting her dishes with love and an eye for details. Old family recipes were waiting in the drawer, the big kitchen of the house the perfect workplace already fully equipped and ready to use, and so without further ado Sylvia brought the “klein und fein catering” […]

Luckily I took a quick glance through the backdoor of the State Stud’s riding hall, when I passed by. There were young mares taking a performance test. Such an incredible vigour and beauty!   Related Posts:contemporary art - slaughter house fivepicnic with sardines and quick pickled shallotsflowers for the Royal's hats?5 questions to Sylviaon inspirationlunch at Deli Elements

Ratimir about student life in Dresden

I had the pleasure to talk with Ratimir (23 years), originally from Duschanbe (Tajikistan),  about student life in Dresden. Since 4 years he is studying electrical engineering at TU Dresden.  Here’s my little interview for you: How would you describe Dresden to someone who has never been? It’s a cultural city with a stunning Altstadt and a perfect campus; the atmosphere is familiar. Even being more than 35.000 students you often see familiar faces. The […]

Contemporary Art – Homegrown

Every year for 2 months the Ostrale invites national and international artists  to take part in a remarkable event at a historical site. The Hans-Erlwein-slaughterhouse offers 15.000 m² exhibition space and an outdoor area more than three times larger. You hardly encounter other visitors and especially a grey sky adds to the post-apocalyptic atmosphere, that creeps upon me in the old halls. With the issue “homegrown” the OSTRALE/ 012 is dedicated to the self-cultivated or self-grown […]

Blumenschnecke

I totally love to pass by Sylke John’s  flowershop “Blumenschnecke”. I met Sylke a long time ago when she still worked in another flower shop. Now she has not only a loving husband but also a sweet little daughter, two super cute kittens and her own flowershop at the family’s B&B.  And happily she brought along  all her creativity and sense for colours and surprises. The little snailshells inspired her for the flowershop’s name. I […]

Next to Lutherkirche in Dresden’s Neustadt, very close to Bautzener Straße and Albertplatz, there is  ZAFFARAN, an amazing condiment shop and café. From squid’s ink to tonga beans, from  Japanese yuzu to  Persian blue salt, there’s no condimental wish to remain unfulfilled. My friend Nancy treated me with a heavenly smelling lemon verbena. Can’t wait to use it! Don’t miss to pass by, tea and cake have been divine, too! Related Posts:Ratimir about student life […]

lunch at Deli Elements

Lunch

There’s a very nice Deli just beside Zeitenströmung, Dresden, Königsbrücker Straße 96. Recently I went there with a friend, and our mission “lunch” was a true success!  I recommend you give it a try if you are in the area. The atmosphere is relaxed, food and wine delicious! If you happen to stand in front of the Elements Restaurant (hungry as we both were) looking for the  Deli,  just follow the street in direction of the […]
